WriteToMyBlog

Filed under: Communication @ 5:41 pm and

I just discovered WriteToMyBlog which is a free online web editor for blogs. It uses TinyMCE for WYSIWYG editing. I currently use Performancing as an editor built in to Firefox which is very handy. I also use WordPress' own editor to post most topics, but this looks like a nice alternative. you can insert images form Flickr and movies from Youtube. You can also do highlighting. You can even do tables within your post.

I'm now going to post this message and see how it handles categories.

You can store image files on flickr.com and then use them in your blog posts. Just click the tree icon when composing a post and paste in the URL that you get from Flickr.

Mobile Blogging

Filed under: Communication @ 4:31 pm and

It is possible to use a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) to create a blog posting. I’m typing this one using a portable keyboard and my Zodiac pda. I’ll then copy and paste the text into the Web browser and save the post. I’m curious to see what happens because the pda’s browser does not work well with javascript and I’m not sure if this WordPress blog uses javascript for composing posts.

If this works, I will be able to post from anywhere there’s a wi-fi connection.

Phanfare Schools Program – Phanfare Support

Phanfare is a new web service for storing and organizing photos and videos. What surprised me was they offer free accounts for schools and non-profits. It looks like you can have unlimited storage of full size digital files. This could be used as a content management system. It has a great search capability.

All I can say is Wow! You’ve got to check out Odeo.com. It’s a free web service designed for recording and sharing audio on the Web. You can send email invitations to friends and family or you can copy and paste code into your blog to embed a player like you see below. They even give you the direct link to the mp3 file so you can podcast it or link directly to it.
